Bob Cabana

Senior Advisor

Robert “Bob” D. Cabana serves as Senior Advisor to IBX. Cabana, a former NASA Associate Administrator, and distinguished astronaut, leverages his wealth of experience in leadership, aerospace, and innovation to advise the IBX portfolio companies.

Prior to joining IBX, Cabana held the esteemed position of NASA's Associate Administrator, holding its third-highest executive position and highest-ranking civil servant. He was as the senior advisor to NASA Administrator Bill Nelson and Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy, overseeing the agency’s 10 center directors and mission directorate associate administrators, managing a workforce of over 18,000 employees, and an annual budget exceeding $25 billion. Prior to this role, Cabana served as the Director of NASA’s John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida, where he managed all spaceport activities and facilities.

A distinguished graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Cabana's career spans notable achievements in the U.S. Marine Corps and NASA. Selected as an astronaut candidate in 1985, he served in various leadership positions, including as lead astronaut in the Shuttle Avionics Integration Laboratory and Mission Control Spacecraft Communicator. Cabana boasts a decorated spaceflight history, with four missions and 38 days in space, including commanding the first assembly mission of the International Space Station. Recognized for his contributions, Cabana has been inducted into the Astronaut Hall of Fame and received prestigious awards such as the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Presidential Distinguished Rank Award.
